American snowboarder Scotty Lago, seconds after his first run in the semifinals in the men’s halfpipe on Wednesday night at Cypress Mountain, paid tribute to his injured friends.
“Danny, Kevin -- that run was for you guys,” Lago said. “I wish you were here with me.”
Lago, a first-time Olympian, was paying tribute to fellow snowboarders Danny Davis and Kevin Pearce. Pearce, who suffered a severe head injury in training on Dec. 31, was the subject of an NBC feature on Monday.
